The Jönköping Student Union works specifically with the goal of increasing integration between international and Swedish students.
Apart from the activities, trips and events that the Student Union arranges for all students to join, you can also apply for The Buddy Program and The Culture Exchange for Families and Student´s program.
The Buddy Program and the Culture Exchange for families and students Program aim to provide international students with an understanding and experience of the Swedish society and culture. Signing up to these programs, will give you the opportunity to meet many new friends!
If you are an incoming international student, you can apply to get a Buddy. A Buddy is a current student at the University who can help you adjust to the student life in Jönköping and help you with questions even before your arrival to Jönköping.
Are you a current student at Jönköping University and want to become a Buddy for an international student arriving to Jönköping? Maybe you remember how you felt coming to a totally different country with a new language? Now you have the chance to help a fellow student so that she/ he won´t feel the same and help them with the transition to Jönköping.
Being a Buddy to a student won´t take a lot of your time. You will be a helping hand to the new students, showing them around campus and Jönköping as well as telling her/ him about the student life. The Integration and Activity Committee (IAC) will organize few activities for the buddies throughout the semester.
JU buddies are needed more than ever this semester for our international students, since buddies can make a huge difference to our international students, with answering the new students’ questions or telling them about life in JU, and Jönköping, even before the students’ arrival.
The Culture Exchange for families and Students Program aims to provide international students with a deeper insight and understanding of the Swedish culture and lifestyle of a Swedish family.
By participating in the program, the family and the student will be able to get to know each other and exchange experiences and cultures. The family will provide the student with a social network, not accommodation.
