At this exact moment, about 25% of the female population is menstruating. Menstruation is as natural as eating, breathing, and sleeping, however the topic remains stigmatized.
Almost 100 million girls don’t attend school due to period poverty. That’s roughly the whole population of North America and Oceania combined! No girl should miss out on school due to their menstruation!
SSA and Spectra want to address the issue of period poverty and raise awareness to break the stigma. On a smaller scale they try to make a difference on our campus by providing free menstrual hygiene products. During last week, 11 new boxes containing menstrual hygiene products were placed in toilets around campus. The products are provided for free for all the students who might need them. Keep an eye out for the sticker on the toilet doors to find the assigned toilets!
