SFS Members Meeting

The Swedish National Union of Students (Swedish: Sveriges förenade studentkårer - SFS) is an umbrella organization which manages national student questions such as housing negotiations with the government, CSN and international cooperation with the European Students’ Union (ESU). Earlier this week the National Advocacy Committee (JSU-NAC) represented us at their members meeting.

It was Vice President Jenný Jensdóttir’s first time at SFS. “It was really giving and a lot new thoughts came to mind on how to work locally at JU. We are starting a collaboration with The student Unions in Borås and Högskolan Väst in Trollhättan. We are bringing up the internationalization on the national level.”

Every year the JSU collaborates with different unions all around Sweden to help drive the questions that matter for its members. Last year a motion written by JSU and Malmö Student Union about integrating international students into student politics went through the at the SFS annual meeting (SFS-FUM).

“It is really fun working with collaborative projects, both when it is just union to union exchanges of knowledge and when its political. SFS has a very lovely atmosphere and everyone is really friendly and engaged.” says Eric Gustafsson who is doing his second year in the JSU-NAC.

The committee will soon start recruiting new members. If you are interested in national collaborations, representative work or student politics we would love to hear from you.
