• Why do JSU have a Board?

The board is the second-highest decision making body of the Student Union. It is responsible for taking the necessary actions to fulfill the students’ expectation, expressed during the Annual Meeting. The Board monitors the Presidium’s actions and aims to improve the student life in the fields of education, health, campus, housing, and the vibrant student life we have in Jönköping.

• Three best things of being a Board member?

Getting to know students, university and Jönköping even better and on a different level, the people working in the board and Student Union. One can actually take action and shape the students’ future.

• What personal qualities have you developed from this experience?

Learning to keep the overview while reflecting and questioning more serious (on the student life’s qualities), being as objective as possible and act on behalf on a bigger scale by keeping all students’ needs in mind.

• Can you influence the decisions on a personal level?

Yes and No. As a board member, you make up your mind thoroughly and independently to have a thorough opinion on matters that are discussed and need to be decided. On the other hand, your own opinion can be contradicting to what the student union is representing. In that case, a board member has to be able to change perspective and act on behalf of the needs of all students of JU.

• What motivated you to apply for the Board?

The opportunity to be engaged in, and being part of, a team that is motivated to improve student life in Jönköping. By being a board member, one has a look behind the scenes.

• Whom can apply to be a part of the Board?

Every member of the Student Union.

• Best encouragement to your future members?

Getting to know new people and other engaged students that want to make a difference to the better for all the students at JU. Pushing your limits even further and grow as a person. If there is a place where a student’s motivation to work for other students, its Jönköping Student Union´s Board.
