There are different roles in the team you can apply to, depending on what suits you best. Read more about them below:
The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the project team and ensuring the successful execution of the kickoff event. They lead meetings, set agendas, and ensure the team follows the budget, by-laws, and policies set by the project leader, JSU and JU. They maintain close contact with faculty student associations, keep the team informed on key decisions, and foster a positive work environment. The Team Leader attends weekly Kickoff Committee Meetings (KCM), project team meetings, and any additional required meetings. Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills are essential for this role.
The Vice Team Leader supports the Team Leader in overseeing the project group and ensuring the successful execution of the kickoff event. They assist in leading meetings, maintaining team organization, and ensuring adherence to the budget, by-laws, and policies set by the project leader, JSU and JU. They act as a key point of contact with faculty student associations and help keep the team informed on important decisions. Additionally, they foster a positive work environment and step in for the Team Leader when needed. Attendance at weekly Kickoff Committee Meetings (KCM), project team meetings, and other required meetings is essential. Strong leadership, adaptability, and communication skills are crucial for this role.
The Fadder Responsible recruits and interviews fadders, ensuring they meet the requirements and adhere to the Kickoff agreement and guidelines. They act as the main point of contact between the fadders and the project team, ensuring smooth communication and information flow. Additionally, they provide support by being available and approachable for fadders who need assistance. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
The Treasurer is responsible for managing the kick-off budget. The treasurer is in charge to ensure that the budget is communicated, to track the expenses, and to be financially accountable. They oversee funding allocation, handle sponsorship funds together with External. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and financial responsibility to ensure the event stays within budget while maximizing available resources.
Marketing is responsible for promoting the kickoff event. They develop the social media channels and create promotional materials such as video’s and pictures. This role involves designing visuals, writing compelling content, and coordinating with other team members to maintain a consistent event brand. They also work closely together with the JSU Communications Manager. Creativity and strong communication skills are beneficial for this position.
External is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, including sponsors and partners. The External works closely together with the treasurer and the JSU Communications Manager. They handle outreach, secure sponsorships, and coordinate collaborations to enhance the event’s reach and impact. Strong communication and negotiation skills are beneficial for this role.
Event oversees the planning and execution of all activities. They develop the event schedule, ensure smooth program flow, and coordinate with other committee members to deliver a memorable experience. Their role requires creativity, organization, and problem-solving skills. Within this position you will also sometimes host the activities, so it is important to feel comfortable speaking in front of a crowd.
Tech manages all technical aspects of the kick-off event, including audiovisual setups and music. They ensure that presentations, sound systems, and any tech-based activities run smoothly while also managing the event’s music to create the best atmosphere.
Logistics is responsible for handling the operational aspects of the event, such as venue setup, transportation, supplies, and on-site management. They ensure that everything is in the right place for a seamless event experience and therefore works closely together with Event. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate efficiently.
